Academic Affairs Office

  Academic Affairs Office is one of the administrative offices in charge of the university’s educational administration, which plays an important role in organization, coordination, and administration services.

  The focus of the office’s working is to adhere to the scientific outlook on cultivating the talents, attach importance to developing teaching plans, standardize teaching administration, strengthen the sense of service, deepen the educational and teaching reforms, and promote the teaching quality persistently.

  The office implements in an all-rounded way and improves gradually the credit system, strengthens the practical teaching links, optimizes the structure of specialties, and makes great efforts to develop curriculum and textbooks. Furthermore, aiming to train application-oriented high-level experts, the office tries every means to improve the contents and methods of teaching management, explores arduously the educational mode of teaching students in accordance of their aptitude and educating students through their classification, and adopts the course system consisting of compulsory and optional courses.

  Up to August 2007, there are 21 provincial-level quality courses and 48 school-level quality courses in our university. 6 of our specialties have been approved to be the characteristic undergraduate specialties in Sichuan province. What’s more, we have 3 teaching experimental centers of provincial-level, 6 key laboratories and 7 undergraduate training bases of provincial-level. 140 text books and reference books have been published by us.

  Following the trends of the development of higher level education, and in order to adapt to the constantly changing situation of social development and the development of higher education teaching reform, our office will continue to carry out talents training mode exploration and practice, deepen the reform of the curriculum system and teaching content, set a high value on the cultivation of students’ sense of innovation and creative ability, improve teaching quality monitoring system, reinforce the teaching management, and promote the teaching quality in accordance with the requirement of the unification of inward looking judgment, i.e. the teachers’ judgment on students, and the outward looking judgment, i.e. the judgment from the society on students.
